The colour of clear sky from the earth appears blue but from the space it appears black. Why?

Answer

  • Size of particles in the atmosphere is smaller than the wavelength of visible light, so they scatter light of shorter wavelengths i.e. blue.
  • In space, there is no scattering of light due to absence of particles. (no atmosphere)
