What is transpiration ? List its two functions.

Answer

The loss of water in the form of vapour from the aerial parts / leaves / stems is known as transpiration.

Functions:

  1. It helps in the absorption and upward movement of water
  2. movement of dissolved minerals from root to leaves.
  3. It helps in the temperature regulation or cooling of the plant.
