Definition: When any vegetative part of plants like root, stem or leaf is used to grow new plants.
Advantages:
- Plants can bear flowers and fruits earlier than those produced from seeds.
- It enables the propagation of plants such as banana, orange, rose and jasmine which have lost the capacity to produce seeds.
- The plants produced are genetically similar enough to the parent plant to have all the characteristics.
