A heap of rice is in the form of a cone of base diameter 24 m and height 3.5 m
Mensuration (10)A heap of rice is in the form of a cone of base diameter 24 m and height 3.5 m. Find the volume of the rice. How much canvas cloth is required to just cover the heap ?
Answer
Radius of conical heap = 12 m
Volume of rice = $\frac{1}{3} \times \frac{22}{7} \times 12 \times 12 \times 3.5 m^3$
= 528 m3
Area of canvas cloth required = πrl
l = $\sqrt{ 12^2 + (3.5)^2 }=12.5m $
Area of canvas required = $\frac {22}{7} \times 12 \times 12.5$
= 471.4 m2
